Support
Practical help with iCloud, invitations, exports, and the information you keep in SharedNook.
Contact support
Email sharednook.support@icloud.com with your app version, iOS version, what you expected, and what happened. Say whether the issue affects a private or shared Nook. An exact response time is not promised.
Please redact screenshots. Do not send passwords, authentication information, full Nook exports, participant details, or private notes. The developer does not have a server-side copy of your Nooks to inspect or restore.
A Nook is not syncing
- Check your internet connection and that the expected Apple Account is signed in to iCloud.
- Open SharedNook Settings and review the iCloud status. Use Sync all Nooks when available.
- For a shared Nook, ask the owner whether your invitation and permission are still active.
- If the app reports a temporary error or retry delay, leave local edits in place and try again when retry becomes available.
Export accessible important Nooks before troubleshooting further. Avoid deleting the app, signing out of iCloud, or deleting records as a first troubleshooting step.
Sharing a Nook
Open the Nook’s settings and choose Invite People or Manage People. Use Apple’s sharing interface to invite people and choose View Only or Can Edit permissions. A participant’s ability to edit depends on the actual CloudKit permission.
Only share information you intend invited participants to see. Participants may retain independent copies. Stopping sharing does not recall those copies.
Exporting important information
Open a Nook’s settings, choose Export Nook, and select a file location. Repeat for each Nook you want to export. The JSON file includes the Nook’s lists, tasks, notes, events, recipes, timestamps, and supported imported note images.
Exports can contain sensitive information. Choose a private location and protect the files. Export is an independent data copy; SharedNook does not currently provide a complete Nook JSON restore/import workflow. Do not assume an export can be restored in one tap.
Deleting, leaving, and retained copies
Owner: Delete Nook requests deletion of the Nook and its content from the applicable iCloud storage.
Participant: Leave Nook removes your participation without deleting the owner’s Nook.
Connectivity and successful synchronization affect cloud operations. Exports and copies in other Nooks or apps remain separate. Deleting SharedNook from a device is not a substitute for deleting its cloud content. Support cannot guarantee recovery of deleted data.
Recipes, notes, and Calendar
Recipe website import needs an HTTPS URL and a supported recipe page. If a page cannot be imported, enter the recipe manually. Import contacts that website from your device.
Import notes from supported Markdown, plain text, or Apple Notes export folders. For image notes, supply the complete folder with the referenced images. Remote images are not fetched automatically.
Adding an event to Apple Calendar requests write access. If access is denied, review SharedNook’s Calendar permission in iOS Settings.
Reminders and notifications
Open SharedNook Settings → Notifications to enable personal reminders, then select each Nook and enable Events or Tasks. Nook Settings also links to that Nook’s controls. Default timing is 15 minutes before; date-only tasks and all-day events default to 9:00 AM on the day. Defaults and individual reminders can be changed.
In private Nooks, all incomplete due tasks are eligible. In shared Nooks, only tasks assigned to you are eligible. Reminders are personal to this device and Apple Account. Check iOS permission status in Notifications settings if alerts are missing, and use Open iOS Settings when blocked.
Keep SharedNook updated by opening it regularly. Only the nearest reminders are scheduled, and changes from other devices require synchronization. A reminder whose trigger time has passed is not delivered as a backlog. Turning reminders off does not stop iCloud synchronization.
Privacy and the app license
Read the SharedNook Privacy Policy for storage, sharing, external requests, and support-email handling. SharedNook does not operate an account system, advertising service, or proprietary content backend.
SharedNook uses Apple’s standard application EULA. No custom liability waiver is provided on this site.
